Daily, Weekly or Monthly Car Rental? Compare Dubai Costs

By Lets Go Car Rental

Compare daily, weekly and monthly Dubai rental costs with worked examples, then check mileage and return terms before choosing a package.

A weekly or monthly rental can be useful, but the label alone does not prove it costs less. Compare the same car, the same dates and the same driving allowance. Then check what happens if your trip ends early or needs another day.

Start with three numbers for the same car

Displayed fleet rates checked 9 October 2026; subject to confirmation for your dates
Example carDailyWeeklyMonthly
Jac S3 2023AED 99AED 399AED 1,499
Mitsubishi ASX 2025AED 149AED 749AED 2,099
Citroen C5 Aircross 2025AED 199AED 899AED 3,799
Citroen SpaceTourer 2024AED 299AED 2,499AED 9,249

These figures are listed rental rates. They do not establish the included mileage, tax treatment, extras or exact length of a monthly package. Ask for those details in the quote. The calculations below compare rental charges only; none is a confirmed booking offer.

A five-day Dubai visit

Suppose you need a Mitsubishi ASX from Monday morning until Saturday at the same time. Five times the displayed AED 149 daily rate is AED 745. The weekly rate is AED 749, only AED 4 more.

If your return date is fixed, a five-day quote may suit you. If you might need two extra days, ask whether the weekly package gives you that flexibility and whether its mileage allowance fits. Do not pay for the longer term on the assumption that unused days will be refunded.

A different car gives a different answer: five JAC S3 daily rates total AED 495, compared with its AED 399 weekly rate. Ask which package the team can actually apply to a five-day stay, including early-return conditions. There is no single rule that works for every car.

A twelve-day work trip

For the ASX, twelve daily rates total 12 × AED 149 = AED 1,788. One listed week plus five daily rates would calculate as AED 749 + AED 745 = AED 1,494. That is AED 294 less in this illustration.

The mixed-period calculation is a question to ask the team, not a published combination package. Confirm whether a week plus extra days can be booked at those rates, whether the same car remains allocated and how mileage is calculated. If packages cannot be combined that way, use the confirmed twelve-day quote.

For a work schedule that may change, also ask how much an extension costs and when it must be agreed. Having the car already does not guarantee another week will be available at the original rate.

A thirty-day stay

For the JAC S3, thirty daily rates would total 30 × AED 99 = AED 2,970, compared with a listed monthly rate of AED 1,499. The rental-rate difference is AED 1,471 if that monthly package covers your full thirty-day period on the quoted terms.

Confirm the exact start and end dates, included kilometres, maintenance arrangements and extension price. Then use the monthly car rental page to request a quote for your full stay. A monthly rental is a rental agreement; it should not be confused with a lease-to-own enquiry or an ownership instalment.

Why longer is not always cheaper

The SpaceTourer listing is a useful counterexample. Seven daily rates calculate as 7 × AED 299 = AED 2,093, while the displayed weekly rate is AED 2,499. Thirty daily rates total AED 8,970, while the monthly rate is AED 9,249.

Those figures do not prove that a long daily-rate booking is available or that the packages have identical inclusions. They do show why you should request clarification instead of assuming a weekly or monthly saving. Compare the written quotes and their allowances; do not silently substitute one rate for another.

Put the other conditions next to the price

  • Exact times: confirm when the rental day starts and what an extra hour or late return costs.
  • Mileage: compare the total included kilometres and the excess rate. A lower rental charge can be offset by extra driving costs.
  • Deposit and advance payment: record each separately, along with the security-release conditions and accepted payment method.
  • Insurance: confirm included cover, excess, exclusions and any optional cover.
  • Other charges: clarify VAT, fuel, tolls, parking, delivery or collection, additional drivers and requested equipment.
  • Changes: read the cancellation, early-return and extension provisions before committing to a longer booking.

See the rental terms and ask the team to resolve any question before payment. For budgeting around an economical car and its deposit, read our affordable rental cost guide.

A simple way to request comparable quotes

Send one message with the car link, collection and return times, delivery address, expected kilometres and number of drivers. Ask for a daily-based total and any weekly or monthly alternative for exactly that booking. Request a breakdown of what is included and what remains payable separately.

Choose after comparing those complete offers. There is little benefit in a cheaper headline rate if the mileage is unsuitable, the return conditions do not match your plans or the car cannot be supplied for the full period.

Frequently asked questions

Can I combine a weekly rate with extra daily rates?

Ask for confirmation. The examples in this guide show the arithmetic, but they do not create a combination package or guarantee that the rates can be joined.

Does a monthly price always mean thirty days?

Do not assume the duration from the label. Ask the team to put the start date, end date and return time in your quote.

Is unused rental time refundable?

Do not assume an early-return refund. Check the booking’s cancellation and early-return terms before choosing a longer package.
